About the Artist

Heather Jacques was born in 1986 in Warwick, Rhode Island. She attended Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in Providence, RI where she earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking. She combines her lifelong history of painting, photography and drawing with her love for science and nature within the work.

Jacques cultivates imagery from self-raised exotic plant specimens and the regional landscape and flora of New England. She renders nature to honor and celebrate the beauty and wonder it beholds. Her prints each hold a personal memory for the artist in some manner and with such, she works with perception and print to evoke emotion and awe through manipulating light, color, transparency, pattern, texture, and multiplicity.

While cultivating future projects, Jacques is refining techniques within screen printing along with continuing to print in a painterly style. She enjoys making with precision and the meditative, repetitive motions of printing by hand. Heather has pride in her prepress workflow, eye for design, and her passion for color theory. Continuously testing technical abilities, she will be expanding the scale of the work while also experimenting with various surfaces, printing ink additives and color mixing.

Heather Jacques currently lives and works in Providence, Rhode Island.
